Maria C. Rivera, passed away on May 16, 2017. Maria was born in Utuado, Puerto Rico to Serafin and Elisa Castro. She was known as the Grill Queen at Lane Tech High School where she cooked for the thousands of students and staff for 25 years. She dedicated her whole life to her family in every aspect of the World’s Best Mother. Maria is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Jorge and Luis Castro, her Sister Iris Cuevas and Sons Orlando, Nelson, and Noel Rivera. She is survived by her loving daughters, Norma Rivera and Carmen Rivera Kurban (Joe) Granddaughter, Nicole Rivera (Marcus), Grandsons, Rey Nelson Rosario (Lorraine), Rolando Rosario, Great Grand Daughter Rosalie and Great Grandson, Marcus Jr.. To many she was known as “Mama”. She had a heart of gold and will leave a great void in each of our hearts! We loved her dearly! May she rest in the Peace of the Lord.
