Catherine "Kay" Waranauskas (nee Sloger), loving wife of 57 years to Richard, passed away on January 11, 2014. Born on July 15, 1936 to Peter & Kazimera Sloger in Chicago, IL. Dear mother of Mary (Paul) Wild, Brian (Fawn), James, & Steven (Amy) Waranauskas, & Ann (Thomas) Rose; devoted grandmother of Kristin (Daniel) Nowak, Alison (fiancee Luke Zammit) Wild, Jennifer, Richard, Ryan, & the late Curtis Waranauskas and Jason, Jacqueline, & Angela Rose; great-grandmother of Lillian & Addison Nowak. Catherine was a long time parishioner of Queen of the Universe Parish in Chicago and a member of the choirs of St. Nicholas of Tolentine Parish in Chicago and St. Edna Catholic Church in Arlington Heights. She was also a member of the choir who sang at the mass of Pope John Paul II in Chicago in 1979. Visitation Friday, January 17, 2014 from 3:00 - 9:00 p.m. at Matz Funeral Home, 410 E. Rand Rd., Mt. Prospect, IL. Lying in state Saturday from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. at St. Edna Church, 2525 N. Arlington Heights Rd. with a mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment St. Casimir Cemetery, 4401 W. 111th St., Chicago, IL. In lieu of flowers please direct donations to National Multiple Sclerosis Society
